Rethinking How We Support Lutheran Schools
Many WELS schools have long relied on congregational offerings to cover the majority of their costs. But as operating expenses rise and church membership growth slows, this model is becoming increasingly unsustainable. How can we support Lutheran education in a way that remains both faithful to our mission and financially viable for the future? This session invites school and church leaders to investigate seven shifts in their funding models.
Participants will explore how to develop a tuition structure that balances the responsibility of the family and the meaningful contribution of the ministry. We’ll examine how to communicate the value of Christian education clearly and compellingly, take the emotion out of setting tuition, and implement membership grants without excluding those in need. This session is more than just a financial discussion. The spiritual dimensions of stewardship will also be considered. Whether you are considering change or just starting a conversation, you’ll leave with practical steps to build a funding model that honors your mission and secures your school’s future.
